New analysis shows Tory cuts to local government are hitting Labour areas and the most deprived councils hardest. We’ve launched a Tory local cuts calculator to show you how your area is affected.
While Tory councils will see an average fall in spending power per household of £68, the equivalent cut for Labour councils is more than £340 per household – five times higher than Tory areas.
And to make matters worse, the most deprived areas of the country are being hit particularly hard. Nine of the 10 most deprived councils in England are set to see cuts higher than the national average, with eight on course for cuts more than three times higher than national average.
